“My very recent educational achievement has been the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting degree from Oxford Brookes University, UK (2021). The degree is very special and unique of its kind – it not only gives ACCA members and students the boost to enhance their transferable skills that are inevitable requisites in today’s professional world and at the same time level-up their resume. As part of the degree I had to complete the research and analysis project (RAP) under the mentorship of Mr. Rashdul Hasan Yasin, ACCA. I believe the RAP part to be of most value-adding amongst all the activities especially when mentored by such efficient, dedicated and motivating hands of Mr. Yasin. The work during my RAP has opened new dimensions for me to think of when conducting financial and business analysis, developed my skills of understanding and interpreting financial and business data in a holistic manner that will be catalyst for me to successfully achieve my future related goals.”

“Research and Analysis Project of Oxford Brookes University was a unique learning experience for me which was an opportunity to equip myself with numerous skills. I was skeptical before the inception of my OBU research project regarding various aspects of research approach. However, when I came across Yasin Bhai and discussed about my project, I started to gain my confidence. The way Yasin Bhai guided me throughout the preparations has been a pivotal factor of my success. I still vividly remember those nights when I sought his support at 2 am at night during the weekdays and wasn’t refused. He always keep pushing his students to stay proactive from the onset so that students do not get derailed form the deadline. As a mentor he is very friendly and cooperate with his students.”

“To me, the best part of conducting the RAP for OBU is the opportunity to conduct proper academic research which we don’t get to do in usually. The topic of my RAP was a rare one, hence, I have found myself being discouraged by many to pursue this. Yasin bhai was the first to encourage me to go forward with my decision and has been extremely supportive. While guiding me as a mentee, I discovered that he does his research on his own, which I found amazing. He’s highly responsive and likes to keep his mentees on their feet. I deeply appreciate his efforts.”

“It was a wonderful learning experience of RAP under OBU banner. I was excited to obtain this degree since this is my first graduation degree. Collecting data from different sources for research and making a proper justification were challenging. However, a good mentor always motivates and brings out the best from a student. The role was exemplary from Yasin bhai, as a mentor. He pushes students to the maximum utilization stage of their brain regarding completion of thesis. Indeed it was a pleasure working under his guidance.”

Doing research is fun to discover new facts and knowledge. But with time and word constraints, OBU RAP can be very challenging to finish up in an organized tone. Nonetheless, with intensive follow up and constructive review responses from Yasin sir, I have passed my research paper successfully. Being detail oriented and punctual within designated time are crucial for a positive OBU RAP result.
